The concept has been developed by Smart Cities, a company founded by a bunch of MIT Media Lab researchers. Their vision is to rent these scooters available in public places, similar to the way that Zipcar works, except you don't have to return your scooter to the exact place where you picked it up. This weather is getting nicer and those gas prices aren't getting lower, so why not take out the old bike? May 13, 2008 - 10:05 am http://www.bostonknows.com Boston Bus Wars Heat Up With Entry of Megabus in May http://www.bostonknows.com/pages/index.php?item=1029&group=11 Boltbus starting running routes between Boston and New York for as low as $1 this month. Megabus moves in late May offering the same deal. Both will offer WiFi, but only Boltbus will have power outlets. There are now 5 discount bus companies, including Greyhound, which now offers competitive fares and WiFi too. Will high gas prices spike demand for these services or will a couple pull out because of over supply? Time to be even more vigilant when parking your car! Maybe you should think about riding the T more . . .it's cheaper! Remember, the city has made it even easier for you to pay your fines, but offering online payment;) About the only efficient part of the city government! Apr 09, 2008 - 12:04 pm http://www.bostonknows.com No Bike Lanes Included in Improvements for Dorchester Avenue http://www.bostonknows.com/pages/index.php?item=939&group=11 Last week the city announced that it was going to spend $12 million on improvements for Dorchester Avenue with no mention of bike lanes. The improvements aim to "improve traffic flow". Encouraging people to ride bikes, instead of cars will certainly improve traffic flow! I bike regularly along Dot Ave and it's more adventure then I care to handle most days. It's nice that the mayor appointed a "bike czar," but why not put some serious investment behind his commitment to biking? For those interested in getting more involved with this issue, consider supporting Dot Bike, a new advocacy group for bikers in Dorchester or email your council member.
