The BIMA Cross Media Forum was created to bring together leading agencies, marketers and publishers to have an open dialogue on the challenges, successes and realities of executing across multi-media platforms. Now in its fourth year, this half day forum will include a keynote address and 4 case studies offering actionable, solution-oriented recommendations for planning, creating, implementing and measuring successful cross media programs. Each case study will include the viewpoint of the agency, the publisher and/or the client and will discuss why the campaign was not only considered successful in its results, but also why it was a winning integrated campaign. May 13, 2008 - 02:05 pm http://www.bostonknows.com Can the Boston Herald Survive? http://www.bostonknows.com/pages/index.php?item=1119&group=25 Interesting article in The Washington Post about whether or not Boston needs the Boston Herald. It's circulation is down to 203,000 and they have only 10 city reporters. Boston is one of the few cities left with two daily newspapers owned by separate companies. I don't read the print version of the Herald, but I do visit their website pretty frequently. Think it would be a shame if they went away . . who's going to keep tabs on The Globe? Sure there are bloggers, but few still have the recognition of the Herald. Maybe the Herald should focus more of its efforts online? Apr 28, 2008 - 12:04 pm http://www.bostonknows.com New England Venture Investment Way Down In First Quarter http://www.bostonknows.com/pages/index.php?item=1084&group=25 According to two recent reports, New England venture capital investment has fallen sharply. Just how much is a matter of debate. The MoneyTree report from the National Venture Capital Association and PricewaterhouseCoopers says investment dropped by 24%, while the Dow Jones VentureSource reported a 36% drop. The discrepancy is attributed to differences in methodology. Information technology received the largest portion of investments, followed by biopharmaceuticals. Apr 22, 2008 - 07:04 am http://www.bostonknows.com Cape Cod Faces Labor Shortage Because of Congressional Deadlock http://www.bostonknows.com/pages/index.php?item=997&group=25 We are all slowly starting to feel the effects of what life would be like without foreign guest workers. Since the Federal government is deadlocked on how to best overhaul our immigration system, it won't allow foreign guest workers into the U.S. The biggest impact has been on farmers across the country, but even places like Cape Cod are feeling the effects. You may see fewer services offered on the Cape this summer because of the labor shortage. The state is teaming up with the local Chamber of Commerce to hold a job fair to recruit local residents willing to do jobs that have been largely filled by foreign workers. Maybe the tight economy will make Americans more willing to do jobs they previously regarded as menial?
